In case you didn’t notice earlier, the draws are both imminent, both going ahead on on 15th April.
These will be for both the BMW car (Draw 1) and house – Draw 2.
The main house draw could still be for the house or for the entire cash accumulated–the draft accounts are still to be done, which will show whether I can give the house or not. It’s looking borderline but we could still make it, unless a mass of people claim refunds in the next week.
This is the massive caveat that I have, which other promoters (whose events were non-refundable) don’t have. So, please understand that we cannot even begin to know the final sum involved until the refund deadline has passed.
I need to not only give the house–which means achieving enough to pay the mortgage–but also meet the other promised commitments such as the stamp duty land tax. So, if there’s insufficient margin, it will have to be a cash award.
If there’s insufficient to award the house, I’ll be as gutted as you, because this will only have happened due to refund levels–almost all ‘hardship refunds’ so I would certainly not quibble–and Barclays’ failure to bank £301k in the first month…grr. If we’d had these added £301k–notwithstanding the refunds issue–we’d have soared to a certain giveaway inside the first few months. It’s been so frustrating and a steep learning curve.
If I should end up giving cash instead of the house then all I can say is, it’s a life-changing sum for most people so I haven’t had anyone pulling out on that basis–not to my knowledge, anyway.
Here are all the deadlines.
Final chance to obtain a refund for the House/Cash Draw – requests to be received by 5 p.m. on 1st April, 2018.
Initially, it was intended to offer refunds up to 7 days before the draw but, this means too great an instability in the final figures and an impossible task for the accounting, with accounting costs soaring if people pull out late.
If people were still pulling out just a few days prior, then there’d not even be enough time to calculate the final cash pot and to do the draw–so the refund cut-off has to be by the end of 1st April, latest.
When will the house/cash pot draw happen?
Sunday, 15th April, 2018.
The announcement of the winner is to be in the form of a professional mini-film, to be released in the days FOLLOWING the draw, once the film is edited and released to me. However, I will consider the wisdom of releasing the winning name in the interim, with “film to follow”–but the winner will have to have a say in this.
Final entry forms for the house/main cash draw – to be received by 5 p.m. on 1st April, 2018. Postal entries MUST BE POSTMARKED on or before April 1st. Entries arriving by post will be admitted to the draw, as long as the postmark on the envelope is 1st April latest. Items bearing later postmarks will be discarded and not entered.
Entries received after 4th April will not be valid; there has to be a cut-off, and 11 days before the draw is cutting it fine. The database has to be professionally cleaned and de-duped. Three days beyond the closing date is plenty of time for the final stragglers of entry forms to come in.
Final entry forms for BMW Draw – to be received by 5 p.m. on 13th April, 2018. This event is easy to prepare for, as it’s a small entrant number, so two days are enough–there’s no database cleansing to do, as I have completed this on an ongoing basis.
When will the BMW X5 draw/cash draw (your choice if you win) happen?
Sunday, 15th April, 2018.
The announcement of the winner is to be in the form of a professional mini-film, to be released in the days FOLLOWING the draw, once the film is edited and released to me. Again, I’ll consider releasing the winning name ahead of the film, with the winner’s permission.
